Just In: Churches, Mosques to resume full operation in Lagos - Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has on Thursday, announced that churches and mosques in the state can start services.

The Federal Government had in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, ordered religious houses in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Ogun and Lagos state to be shut as a measure to curtail the spread of the virus.

However, the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 lifted the suspension last Monday, after due consideration from President Muhammadu Buhari, but the Lagos State Government held back, stating that the number of infections in the state is quite high.

Following another announcement, Sanwo-Olu on Thursday stated that Muslim services will resume on 19th June while Christian worship begins on the 21st of June, 2020.

Religious gatherings are restricted to Fridays and Sundays only and Children below age 15 not allowed.
