Diddy’s motion for a mistrial in his sex trafficking and racketeering case has been thrown out by the presiding judge. Diddy’s legal team had argued that recent testimony referencing a 2012 arson incident allegedly connected to rapper Kid Cudi was unfair and could bias the jury.
A judge has rejected claims linking a car fire at Kid Cudi’s home to Diddy. Prosecutors had suggested the fire followed Cudi’s reported relationship with Diddy’s ex, Cassie.
The judge ruled the claims were speculative and told the jury to ignore them.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to five charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking.
Prosecutors allege Diddy used threats, drugs, and violence over 20 years to exploit women, including ex-girlfriend Cassie.
The case includes claims of “Freak Offs,” where women were allegedly forced into sex acts for male guests.
The ongoing trial, has featured testimony from key witnesses, including Ventura and Kid Cudi. Cassie Ventura gave a detailed account of abuse and control she allegedly suffered, while Kid Cudi spoke about the suspicious fire at his residence.
Diddy’s defence maintains that all relationships and acts described were consensual.
However, this does not extend to the alleged arson, as he denies any involvement in the burning of the car and rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.
The trial is set to continue in the coming weeks with more witnesses expected to testify.
