Singer Johnny Drille has shared how becoming a father has reshaped his views on love, responsibility, and the silent sacrifices parents make for their children.
In a recent interview with Dose of Society, the Mavin Records artiste said fatherhood has deepened his appreciation for family and especially for his parents, who he credits for shielding him and his siblings from hardship during their childhood.
“The one rule I live by is family first. I would abandon anything I’m doing anywhere in the world if my family needs me,” he said. “Every time I get overwhelmed by the world, I always run back to family, and it all feels better.”
The How Are You (My Friend) singer, who became a father in November 2023, said raising a child has given him a better understanding of what his parents went through while trying to raise a family with limited resources.
“My parents didn’t have much. Sometimes there was no food, but they always found a way to make it work and even made it feel fun for us. Now that I look back, I realise they were just shielding us from the difficulties they were facing,” he recalled.
Drille also spoke about how his biggest dream is to care for his parents and give them the chance to experience more of the world, expressing deep gratitude for their guidance.
“Having a child changes your life in the most incredible ways. Now I understand what it feels like to nurture someone, and I’m even more grateful for what my parents did for me and my siblings,” he said.
