It’s 2025, and you’d think a global superstar could post a snap of herself without drama. But alas, the law says otherwise. Pop royalty, Jennifer Lopez, is finding out the hard way that owning the glam doesn’t mean you own the rights to the photos.
The award-winning American singer and actress has been slapped with a whopping $300,000 (around £236,000) lawsuit for copyright infringement
This is simply for sharing photos of herself strutting the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards.
The twist? She didn’t take the photos.
The lawsuit was filed by photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency Backgrid.
Jennifer Lopez posted two professionally taken images to her social media without their permission.
Also, she reportedly used the post—captioned “GG Weekend Glamour”—to tag her jewellery and clothing designers.
She allegedly turned the moment into brand promotion without compensating the content creators.
Also, each image carries a claimed value of $150,000 in damages.

However, this isn’t her first time with copyright trouble, Jennifer Lopez was previously sued in both 2019 and 2020 for sharing pro snaps without the proper rights.
There is no detail about the outcome of those lawsuits. Was there a settlement outside the court? Will this go same way?
