Jaywon has apologised to fellow artiste Ayra Starr after people accused him of mocking her over her lack of a nomination for the 67th Grammys.

The controversy began when the Grammys announced the nominees, and despite a successful year, Ayra Starr failed to receive a nomination.

Shortly after the announcement, Jaywon, who has been publicly feuding with Starr, posted a photo of himself holding two Grammy awards. Many interpreted the post as a jab at Starr.

In response to the backlash, Jaywon clarified his stance and apologised for his actions. He praised Ayra Starr as one of the top female vocalists in Africa and emphasized that he does not bring others down but supports them for future success.

“If you see Ayra Starr, tell her I’m sorry she wasn’t nominated for this year’s Grammys. I’m a huge fan of her music, and I believe she’s one of the best female vocalists Africa has,”

Jaywon wrote. “On this side, we don’t pull people down. We elevate, not just for today, but for the future. Ola Inu Kan.”

Jaywon is a voting member of the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards.
