The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported on Monday that the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures inflation, rose to 15.63 percent year over year in December from 15.40 percent the previous month.

From April 2021 to November 2021, the headline index was in a downward trend for eight months before returning to an upward trend in December.

In April, inflation was 18.12%, followed by 17.93% in May, 17.75% in June, 17.38% in July, 17.01% in August, 16.63% in September, 15.99% in October, and 15.40% in November.

According to the December CPI numbers, the 0.23 percent increase was caused by an increase in prices of goods and services as a result of increased demand during the month in question, which was a festive season.
