A member of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s staff was detained by Department of State Services (DSS) agents in Rivers State due to allegations of extortion. On Tuesday, Geraldine Ekelemu, INEC’s public affairs officer in the state, released a statement in which the arrest was officially announced. The staff member, a security guard, was arrested, according to the electoral authority, for allegedly extorting unwary members of the public.
