
The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, has taken decisive action against illegal developments along its waterfronts by sealing two prominent leisure destinations, Timeless Beach and Iceland Beach
They also sealed over 180 other buildings in the Okun-Ajah and Eti-Osa axis.
The state commissioner, Dayo Bush Alebiosu, led the enforcement operation which commenced early on June 23.
They targeted property owners who had ignored multiple warnings regarding encroachment on state-owned land.
According to Alebiosu, several individuals had previously been served official contravention notices but chose to flout the directives.
He noted that while more than 40 of the offenders had initially been accommodated by the government and issued legitimate E-Survey documentation after meeting legal requirements.
Also, he stated that many others continued to defy regulations by erecting unauthorised structures.
The ministry stressed that such disregard for the law threatened the sustainable development and integrity of Lagos’ waterfronts.
During the clampdown, over 20 individuals suspected of violating state regulations were apprehended and will face legal action accordingly.

Alebiosu reiterated that the government would not tolerate illegal occupation of waterfront lands and remained committed to enforcing compliance to protect public interest.
