The IGP- Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has declared the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to prioritize the welfare and wellbeing of officers at all times.

This is coming as Egbetokun disclosed that the Force has disbursed a total of ₦22,978,602,488.25 to the families and next of kin of 8,311 deceased police officers since the commencement of his administration.
At a presentation held at the Force Headquarters on Friday in Abuja, the inspector General of Police presented ₦2 billion in benefits to 1,235 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.
In addition, the payments covered claims spanning from 2018 through 2024.
He said the Nigerian Police Force is built on the pillars of service, integrity, and sacrifice, just as he disclosed that officers face immense risks daily to keep the nation safe.
While no compensation can replace a lost life, the force hope these benefits provide some comfort and hope to the families.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the loss of a police officer is not only a tragedy to the Force but to the entire nation while reaffirming the commitment of the current leadership of the Force to prioritize the welfare of personnel and their families.
Also speaking, the Force Insurance Officer, CSP Lydia Ameh, described the presentation of the cheques as a reflection of the fatherly love and unwavering commitment of the IGP to the welfare of police personnel and their families.
CSP Ameh further commended the Inspector-General for his deliberate and sustained efforts to clear longstanding arrears of insurance claims, some of which had been outstanding since 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
