Newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina, has finally addressed the ongoing allegations of identity theft that surfaced after her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant.

The accusations was raised by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

It stems from claims that Chidinma’s mother may have committed fraud and identity theft.

Preliminary investigations suggested that Chidinma was born at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto in 2001.

However, her father is of Igbo descent from Nigeria, her mother is a Mozambican who later became a naturalised South African citizen.

Following these allegations, Chidimma exited the Miss South Africa pageant and redirected her focus.

She eventually accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria contest

In a recent interview with Arise News, the 23-year-old beauty queen strongly denied any involvement in identity theft.

She expressed her reluctance to comment extensively on the matter due to its legal nature.

She stated: “I did not steal anyone’s identity. I’m currently waiting for the case to conclude so I can fully understand all the details”.

Chidimma also emphasised that her departure from the Miss South Africa pageant was not an attempt to evade the allegations but rather a step toward fulfilling her long-held aspirations.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the case, Chidimma remains adamant that she has not committed any wrongdoing
