When Mayorkun burst onto the scene with Eleko in 2016, it was clear he was destined for greatness. Discovered by Davido and signed to his DMW label, the young talent quickly carved a name for himself in Nigeria’s vibrant Afrobeats scene.

But now, nearly a decade later, Mayorkun is stepping into a new phase and once again, Davido is playing a pivotal role.
Mayorkun Interview
In an interview with 3Music TV, Mayorkun, now known for hits like Certified Loner and Let Me Know, revealed that his new partnership with Sony Music Africa wasn’t just business it was brotherhood.
“Shout out to Davido for that as well, he facilitated the deal,” he said, nodding to the mentor who helped launch him and is still shaping his journey.
Fans have been asking, waiting, and speculating about when Still The Mayor, his third studio album, would drop. Now, the wait is nearly over it’s coming 13 June.
What’s taken so long? Mayorkun didn’t shy away from telling the truth. “This has been the most challenging album for me,” he admitted.
Between endless clearance issues and navigating label protocols, it felt like every time they picked a date, something got in the way. “Music isn’t how it used to be,” he reflected.
“Now, you’ve got to do everything by the book and we just wanted to avoid trouble.”
Still The Mayor isn’t just a title, either. It’s a continuation of a journey a bold statement that he’s still here, still evolving, and still ready to lead.
He said he chose the title to spark questions and show that he’s still on the path he started.
The album will be Mayorkun’s first since Back In Office in 2021. And from all indications, it’s not just another project it’s a statement.
With new backing, old support, and a fresh story to tell, Still The Mayor might just be his most defining work yet.
