Oscar-winning actor, Gene Hackman, his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead in their home in New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon.
The Public Information Officer for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, Denise Avila, confirmed the tragic news to ABC News on Thursday morning.
According to Avila, authorities conducted a welfare check at the couple’s residence.
This was after a concerned neighbour reported not having seen or heard from them in some time.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of the 94-year-old actor, his wife, and their pet.
Gene Hackman, a legendary Hollywood actor, was best known for his roles in acclaimed films such as The French Connection, The Conversation, and The Royal Tenenbaums, among many others.
Gene Hackman illustrious career spanned decades, earning him widespread recognition and numerous awards.

Law enforcement officials stated that there were no immediate signs of foul play.
Also, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.
