Popular comedian and actor-turned-preacher, Oluwatoyin Bayegun, widely known as Woli Arole, has voiced his concerns about the shifting dynamics within the Nigerian gospel music industry.
Expressing his dismay, Woli Arole lamented the increasing prevalence of hypocrisy, worldliness, and cabalism in the industry.
Also, the situation suggests that these elements have diluted the true essence of gospel music.
According to him, the process of inviting gospel artistes for ministration is no longer guided by the leading of the Holy Spirit, but rather by personal connections and networking.
He criticised the industry for prioritising influence over spiritual calling.
Also, it makes it challenging to distinguish between gospel ministers and secular performers.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “The level of hypocrisy, worldliness, and cabalism in the gospel music industry in Nigeria is alarming. Oh yes! Invitations are based on who you know, not as the Spirit leads. Music ministers too—we can’t differentiate whether you’re a performer or a minister. It’s well!”.
His statement has sparked discussions among fans and gospel music enthusiasts, with many questioning whether gospel music in Nigeria is gradually losing its spiritual depth in favour of commercial success.
