Germany legend, Thomas Muller, will reportedly retire from international duty after his country’s crushing Euro 2024 defeat to Spain.

Germany Legend Muller To Retire From International Duty

Following Germany’s disappointing exit from Euro 2024 after a 2-1 quarter-final loss to Spain, the 34-year-old hinted that the match could be his final appearance for Die Mannschaft.

“Realistically speaking, it is possible that this was my last international match,” he stated.

“I will sit down with the national coach afterwards.

“We have a very trusting relationship.

“But as I said, realistically it is quite possible.”

According to Bild Sport, Muller has indeed played his last match for Germany and will announce his retirement from international duty.

He will follow in the footsteps of Toni Kroos, who not only also exited the international scene after the Euros but retired from football entirely.

However, Muller will continue to feature for Bayern Munich and honour his contract, which runs until 2025.

For over a decade, Muller has been a central figure in German football, known for his versatility, intelligence, and goal-scoring ability.

His contributions have not only been limited to his on-field performance but also his leadership and influence within the squad.
