Gavi Renews Contract With FC Barcelona Until 2026

Barcelona have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Gavi over a new deal – which includes a release clause set at €1billion (£866m) to make it a nigh impossible job for interested parties such as Liverpool and Manchester United to snap him up.

Gavi will sign his new contract in front of the club’s fans at Barcelona’s stadium on Thursday evening, which will be followed by a speech from the player and president Joan Laporta.

At just 18 years of age, the midfielder is already a regular for both his club side and Spain, racking up 10 caps since his 2021 debut.

Gavi burst onto the scene at the Camp Nou last term, with Ronald Koeman promoting him from the youth side into the senior set-up.

Xavi warned Barca bosses that there was no time to waste when it came to giving the starlet a new contract, with interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea from the Premier League.

Speaking in April about both Gavi and Ronald Araujo in April, he said: “They are very important. The club cannot allow either of them to leave”.
