FORMER Minister of External Affairs, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari is expected to be announced as the new Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
Prof. Gambari met with President Buhari on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, was quoted to have said that an announcement will be made even as he refused to confirm that the former External Affairs Minister during the Buhari military administration has been appointed.
“Announcement during FEC tomorrow,” the presidential spokesman said in response to a text message.
President Buhari is expected to preside over a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The office of the Chief of Staff to the President became vacant after the death of the former occupant Mallam Abba Kyari on April 26 as a result of complications from Coronavirus infection.
Presidency sources told iBrandTV that Prof. Gambari met with the President on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja.
The sources said that the new Chief of Staff will resume work at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.
