Abiodun Olukoya, former Military Governor of Ondo State and retired Rear Admiral is dead.

After suffering an illness, Olukoya passed away on Tuesday.

Olukoya was the Governor of two territories between 1989 and 1992, before Ondo and Ekiti were divided.

During the General Ibrahim Babangida dictatorship, he was the helmsman of Ondo from September 1990 to January 1992.

Retired Commodore Olabode George was succeeded by Olukoya, who was thereafter turned over to Chief Bamidele Olomilua.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.

Olukoya passed away few hours after Olabiyi Durojaiye, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), passed away.

Durojaiye served as the Senator for Ogun East on the Alliance for Democracy (AD) platform from 1999 until 2003.
