Popular Nigerian comedian, Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, better known as Shank Comics, recently had fans in stitches. He shared the unexpectedly humorous story behind his father’s religious conversion.

During a casual interaction with a fan in the United States who assumed he was Muslim, Shank took a moment to clarify his background.

He explained that although his given name is Saheed, a traditionally Muslim name, he is a Christian and so is his dad, thanks to… a free meal.

In true Shank fashion, the comedian shared the quirky backstory with unfiltered humour:

My daddy was a Muslim. Then there was one time he was f#cking hungry, then one church gave him food, then he became a Christian. I swear to God, my dad is so cheap!”

The comic tale sparked laughter and conversation online

Many noted how hunger had not only humbled men but apparently, also converted them.
