Hansi Flick hopes that Spain won’t use injured Lamine Yamal in their upcoming Nations League clashes during the international break.
The Barcelona sensation was left out of the club’s matchday squad that faced Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday in an away fixture.
However, the club confirmed that the 17-year-old suffered a ‘severe contusion’ in their 5-2 win over Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League in midweek.
In Yamal’s absence, Flick turned to Fermin Lopez who formed the front three for the club alongside Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
Also, the Spanish international’s absence proved costly, as the Catalan club’s seven-game winning streak ended with Real Sociedad claiming a narrow 1-0 win.
After the match, the Blaugrana boss admitted they missed the services of Yamal and hoped that Spain would ‘do the right thing’ and not use the youngster in their upcoming matches.
However, speaking to reporters, the German coach said, “We missed Lamine today, which is normal, I don’t know if he will be back straight after the international break.
“I think the doctors will ask for Lamine not to play for the national team.
“We will speak to the RFEF.
“He would have if he could’ve played tonight, but there was no other option.
“I hope the right thing will be done.”
