In a move set to reshape Nigeria’s economic future, the federal government has relaunched the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP) with ambitious goals: creating over one million export-linked jobs and drawing in $1 billion in foreign investment.

In a move set to reshape Nigeria’s economic future, the federal government has relaunched the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP).

National Talent Export Programme As Economic Strategy

NATEP positions talent export as a key pillar of Nigeria’s non-oil growth strategy.

The programme connects the country’s skilled youth to the $1 trillion global outsourcing market, focusing on sectors such as technology, BPO, healthcare, creative services, and remote work.

Stronger Framework, Clearer Vision

First introduced at the UN General Assembly 18 months ago, NATEP has returned with sharper policies, new leadership, and an ecosystem-based approach.

At the relaunch in Itana, Lagos, Jumoke Oduwole said, “We’re not just opening doors—we’re raising standards.”

Training And Private Sector Support

The government will train 10 million Nigerians in globally relevant digital skills and incentivise outsourcing firms to expand locally.

A new public-private agreement with firms like Itana and Alaro City will help generate 100,000 jobs in key sectors.

Experienced Leadership At The Helm

A seasoned development finance expert, Teju Abisoye, now leads NATEP’s implementation.

She will build a national talent database, reform export policies, and link Nigerian workers to global employers.

A Future Built At Home

Aligned with President Tinubu’s economic goals and AfCFTA, NATEP draws on Nigeria’s youthful, English-speaking population and growing digital infrastructure.

“The future of work isn’t elsewhere—it’s being built here,” Oduwole said.
