Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed through the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, that it plans to reintroduce toll gates on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway as soon as it completes the process of rehabilitating the road.

The former governor of Lagos State, while speaking on Sunday, said the government is planning to introduce three toll plazas on the highway after all works on the expressway is complete.

Fashola, projected that the rehabilitation of the road would be completed by December 2022.

The Minister, noted that at least a toll gate is expected in the Lagos, Ogun (Ogere) and Ibadan axis of the expressway when completed.

He also explained that Oyo State government is constructing a drainage facility around the Ojoo part of the expressway, which, according to him, has significantly slowed down the pace of work in that area. Fashola said he is optimistic that the work can be finished before the year runs out, as talks are already being held with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to resolve the hitch being experienced in order to complete the within the proposed time.
