One of the things the government is promising Nigerians is to give them subsidised rice, moving the price from above ₦80,000 Naira to ₦40,000.

The government says it will help cushion the effect of the inflation, reducing living costs amid alleviating economic challenges.

But whether it will get to all Nigerians is the question people are looking for answer to.

FG Invites Workers To Register For Subsidized ₦40,000 Rice

Indeed, the Federal Government has announced plans to sell 50kg bags of rice at ₦40,000 to public servants.

This initiative aims to alleviate the nation’s food crisis and its effects on citizens.

In a recent letter, the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs communicated this plan.

Notably, Jaiyesimi Abimbola, the Ministry’s Director of Human Resources, signed the letter.

The letter instructs interested staff members to complete a Google form on the OHCSF website.

Subsequently, they should submit the completed form to the Director of Human Resources for approval.

Additionally, the letter outlines that designated offices will handle payment and distribution of the rice.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Joint Union Council of the Ministry will oversee the process to ensure transparency.

Rice Subsidy From FG 

“As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate the current food crisis in the country and its effects on the general population.

“I am directed to inform you that 50kg bags of rice will be sold at a subsidised rate of ₦40,000 only per bag to interested public servants in Abuja.”

“To ensure effective implementation, all interested staff are required to complete a Google form on the OHCSF website, https://www.ohcsf.gov.ng, print it, and then submit it to the Director of HR for endorsement.”

“Furthermore, payment for and distribution of the rice will be coordinated by designated officials.

“The Chairman of the Joint Union Council of the Ministry is also required to serve as an observer during the exercise to ensure transparency.

“I must add that each staff member is entitled to purchase only one bag. However, two or more staff members may jointly pay for a single bag and share it among themselves.

“Please, ensure that you bring the contents of this circular to the attention of staff in your respective Departments/Units for their information and guidance.”

Recently, the Federal Government established centers nationwide where Nigerians can purchase 50kg bags of rice for ₦40,000.

According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, this initiative is part of several efforts by the Tinubu administration to improve living conditions for citizens.
