The Federal Government has on Thursday, said that state governments could not control mineral deposits in their respective states.

Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, disclosed this at a sensitisation meeting with state commissioners of Justice, minerals and environment.
He addressed representatives of the North-Central Geopolitical zone.

According to Adegbite, the minerals generated revenue which were used to develop the nation.
He said all funds generated were paid into the consolidated fund, and shared according to the revenue allocation sharing.
