Nigerians have taken to social media to protest what they tag; Brutality by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

With the hashtag ‘Enough Is Enough’ which has been on the trends chart for hours, Nigerians in large numbers are lending their voice to speak against this misconduct by men in uniform.

It all started when a video emerged, showing some EFCC officials dressed in mufti badging into one of the hotel rooms in Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos.

An unidentified lady said to be the manager at the hotel was seen trying to open the door from inside when the men opened it forcefully.

One of the officers was seen slapping the lady repeatedly before ordering her out of the room.

EFCC Chairman Orders Officers Arrest

The incident was captured on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and has since generated outrage online.

In a quick response to this ugly incident, the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered the arrest of the officers involved in the manhandling of the hotel staff.

Reacting to the development, Olukayode, in a statement on Thursday, said the incident happened during an early morning sting operation.

He said the operation led to the arrest of a sizable number of suspects who were still being profiled, adding that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found culpable in the incident.

Enough Is Enough

Sadly, this incident happens to be one of many in the country.

This is not the first time Nigerians are protesting against brutality by the same officers who are supposed to protect them.

This was what led to the #EndSARS protest that happened in 2020.

In October of that year, Nigerians took a stand against the SARS unit of the Nigeria Police.

It was a protest like no other.

Nigerians had it up to their necks and they could no longer bear it.

The outcome was catastrophic, not to mention the aftermath.

As we speak, many Nigerians are calling for such protest to happen again since these officers have refused to abide by the laws.
