There is ongoing confusion at the Edo State House of Assembly as some men have removed its roof and vandalised the iconic legislative mace on top of the building.
In a video uploaded by Channels Television, some men were offloading gravel at the entrance of the Assembly building and gaining access.
The attack on the premises of the State Assembly is rumoured to be connected to yesterday’s impeachment of Deputy Speaker, Yekini Idiaye.

Earlier today, policemen had surrounded the premises, a move which Governor Godwin Obaseki reacted to by saying the state will not be intimidated.
According to reports, the governor ordered the immediate renovation of the Assembly as there are beliefs that Idiaye and other lawmakers are plotting to take over the Asssembly.
Idiaye and 16 other lawmakers had pledged their support for All Progressives Congress’ Osagie Ize-Iyamu ahead of the state’s gubernatorial election.
