Singer Sydney Esiri, popularly known as Dr Sid, has confirmed his relocation to the United States.
Speaking on a recent episode of the ‘No Man’s Friend’ podcast, the ‘Over The Moon’ hitmaker revealed he moved to the U.S. after securing a job with a New York-based company.
“I now live in the U.S. I left Nigeria last year after I got a job with a company in New York that offered me an opportunity to move to the States and live anywhere in the U.S.,” he said.
Dr Sid, who now resides in Houston, Texas, explained the move was influenced by having family and friends in the area. He added, “I’ve been working here for the last one year and a half.”
Dr Sid rose to fame in 2002 as part of the music group Da Trybe, gaining recognition on the hit single ‘Oya.’
After releasing his debut solo single ‘Don’t Stop,’ he took a break to complete his university studies, eventually becoming a qualified dentist.
In 2007, Dr Sid left dentistry to focus on music, signing with Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits Records.
His debut album, Turning Point, was released in 2010, featuring hits like ‘Over The Moon’ and ‘Pop Something.’
Following the split of Mo’ Hits Records in 2012, Dr Sid joined Mavin Records and released his second album Siduction in 2013.
He made his acting debut in 2014 in the film The Last 3 Digits.
