
As Nigeria marks 26 years of uninterrupted democracy, President Bola Tinubu has conferred national honours on dozens of Nigerians, both living and deceased, for their roles in the struggle for democracy.
Notably honoured were Prof. Wole Soyinka, Barrister Femi Falana (CON), and veteran journalist Seye Kehinde (OON), among others.
Also, late Kudirat Abiola was posthumously honoured with a CFR, while Ken Saro-Wiwa and his fellow Ogoni activists received both national honours and a posthumous presidential pardon.

Tinubu said the awards are in recognition of the sacrifices made by these individuals in securing Nigeria’s democratic journey.
