Delta Women to Okowa, don’t use Mariam Babaginda center for Court of Appeal

THE move by the Delta State government to use the Women Development Center in Asaba, built in memory of former first lady, Late Mariam Babaginda for the proposed Court of Appeal in the state, has been greeted with knocks from women in the state who described it as an “insult on the grave of the former First Lady.”
The women, who described the center as an edifice built by former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to immortalize the late Mariam Babaginda, depicted the center as a turning point for women development in not just Delta State but the South-South region.
The position of the women is coming just as the state government gave reasons why it is using the center for the proposed Court of Appeal, stating that it had to use the building to meet the four month deadline given to the state for the establishment of the court.
