D’banj held a listening party at W Bar in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, August 15, to celebrate his new album, ‘The Entertainer D’Sequel’.
This album, a follow-up to his 2008 release ‘The Entertainer’, was officially released on Friday, August 16. It features 13 tracks, including “Koko,” “Peaky Blinders,” “I Am Legend,” “Kala,” “Yours Truly,” and “Koko Remix.”
D’banj, is known for blending Afrobeat with pop. He left Mo’Hits Records in 2012 to start his own label, DB Records.
Under DB Records, he released hits like “Cash Flow,” “Don’t Tell Me Nonsense,” and “Emergency.”
D’banj recently celebrated 20 years in music in June 2024 and is also famous for the global hit “Oliver Twist.”
D’banj named his new album The Entertainer D’Sequel to update and present a fresh version of himself.
While preparing for his 20th anniversary, D’banj started with “Koko,” the album’s first track, featuring Olamide.
Track 5, “Peaky Blinders,” is inspired by D’banj’s favorite TV series and was recorded in South Africa.
He also shared that “Love Truly” is a letter to his fans and that Phyno gifted him the song. D’banj said that his drive and passion for music are what make him happy and fulfilled.
The listening party drew a notable crowd, including Phyno, music video director Unlimited LA, Gideon Okeke, Tolanibaj, Iyabo Ojo, Bella Shmurda, Odumodublvck, and DJ Spinall.
