This development was expected to end the problem of fuel scarcity which Nigerians have endured for decades.

But what Nigerians did not know was that the worse is yet to come.

Now, as we speak, Nigerians are buying petrol at a higher price than before.

In fact, many have concluded that the country was better off without the refinery.

Nigerians In Trouble

You see, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) as the sole distributor of Dangote petrol, the problem of scarcity seems to be very much around.

Again, there comes the problem of the price of the product.

Hours after loading over 300 trucks of petrol from Dangote Refinery, the NNPC announced an increase in the price of petrol.

Being the sole distributor, that means every fuel station in Nigeria must buy from them.

These fuel stations will also have to decide on their own price.

Now you see? Nigerians are in trouble.

Fuel Vs Relationships

In Nigeria, when fuel is scarce and expensive, the price of every other thing skyrockets.

From transportation to food, clothes, drinks, etc. everything becomes unimaginably expensive.

The high prices of things have had great effects on relationships.

Yes, relationships are so much affected.

Boyfriends no longer take their girlfriends out on romantic dates, movie dates, etc.

It is not because they don’t want to, but you see, the reason is obvious enough.

By the time the man considers the amount of money that transportation will consume, not to mention the expensive foods and drinks, he’ll be forced to think twice.

Vacation, clubbing, dinner dates, tours, all these things are now nothing but memories in many relationships.

These days, relationships, even in the same state, appear like distance relationships, all thanks to the high cost of transportation.

For those who are familiar with Lagos, imagine living on the mainland, let’s say Surulere and your girlfriend stays on the Island. Your name is sorry.

You may not be able to see your bae as often as you used to.

Her transportation, and feeding, and in case there is no electricity supply, you may want to put on the generator to make your girlfriend comfortable.

As of 2023, yes, just last year, all these romantic moves wouldn’t have cost you so much, but now, well, you may want to try and find out.
