A Civil Society Organisation (CSO) has demanded the immediate arrest and interrogation of Sheikh Gumi who by now, “should have been declared as a person of interest by all intelligence and law enforcement agencies.”

Coalition for Peace In Nigeria (COPIN) said on Wednesday that if the DSS failed to invite the Islamic Cleric for an interview on all he knows about bandits/terrorists holding the North West States, and parts of North Central, to ransom, the group would not fail to mobilise a peaceful protest in strategic places around the country.

The group advising the Department of State Services (DSS), said the Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi’s romance with bandits/terrorists in the country is worrisome and something for which he should be arrested without hesitation.

COPIN opined that owing to Gumi’s persistent call on the federal government to grant the terror elements amnesty, he should ordinarily be a person of interest.

The group explained that apprehending Gumi is fundamental to a peaceful election, as he would provide the secret service with credible/actionable intelligence on the actual locations, and modus operandi of the terrorists, culminating in their arrest.
