Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in the January 2022 transfer window on a two-year deal following a public fall out with then Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag.
The player’s entry helped the Saudi league attract other fading elite players into its ranks.
Among these players are Sadio Mane from Bayen Munich, Ryhad Mahrez from Manchester City, and Kareem Benzema hitherto of Real Madrid.
The Saudi Arabian league title proved beyond Cristiano Ronaldo’s capacity to win. Al Nassr finishing the 2024/2025 in the third position, finally dented his perfect record from the English, Spanish and Italian leagues.
While The Saudi league title remained elusive, he did help Al Nassr win its first Intercontinental title, the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
Ever the prolific goal poacher, Cristiano Ronaldo departs Al Nassr having scored 100 goals in 112 matches. Of these, he scored 75 league goals in 78 appearances.
His haul of 35 goals in 2023 goals set a new domestic record for most goals in a single season. In 2024/24 season, he scored 33 goals, and 25 in the just concluded 2024/25 season.
He thus monopolised the golden boot in all 2½ seasons he played in the country. His last goal for the club fittingly came in his final league match.
New horizons beckon to the legend. However, as an ambassador of Saudi 2034 FIFA World Cup, Cristiano Ronado’s Saudi adventure is far from over.
