In a dramatic move to restore order and ensure smooth traffic flow, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched a major crackdown on illegal garages.
Crackdown By LASTMA
The enforcement team impounded 40 vehicles (25 commercial and 15 private) in the busy areas of Oyingbo, Ijora, and Idumota.
The impoundments were carried out by LASTMA enforcement team, led by Mr. Kayode Odunuga, under the supervision of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa.
The targeted operation focused on removing illegal garages that have long caused traffic jams and major inconvenience for both residents and commuters.
Plan for Smooth Traffic Flow
“This operation is part of a bigger plan to improve the city’s transportation network and keep order on the roads,” stated Giwa.
He emphasized the impact of illegal garages, noting: “Illegal garages have been a big problem in our effort to keep traffic moving smoothly in Lagos.
“These impoundments send a strong message to all offenders that the state will not tolerate activities that disrupt public order and endanger the lives of our citizens.”
