There is a glimmer of hope for the world as Indonesia is set to combat the Coronavirus pandemic with a Chinese-made vaccine.
1,600 volunteers are scheduled to participate in a six-month human trial study of the intended cure.
The vaccine is one of the few drugs to enter the penultimate stage of clinical trials before regulatory approval which can come if the human trials prove successful.
The treatment regiment is known as CoronaVac, and is already being used on 9,000 health workers in Brazil.
With Indonesia’s low testing rate, it is believed that their 127,000 confirmed cases may be less than the actual figure as the country battles to combat the virus.

Among the volunteers is the governor of West Java in Indonesia.
If the vaccine is successful after the February deadline of trials, 250 million doses will be produced for country with close to 270 million citizens according to the government.
“Once again I want to highlight that the COVID-19 threat will not end until all people in Indonesia are vaccinated,” Indonesia’s President, Joko Widodo said.
