*Ask DSTV, Star Times to also give free subscription 

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has on Monday, directed telecommunications companies in the country to give Nigerians some token airtime and data to help them stay connected during this period of lockdown.

The minister also called on the broadcast satellite service providers in the country to support the fight against COVID-19 by giving Nigerians an extension of atleast one month on their current subscription.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Keyamo said: “As one of the Ministers entrusted with the welfare of Nigerian workers, I politely urge DSTV and Star Times Nigeria to extend all existing subscriptions by at least one month, free-of-charge, as their own contribution to ease the pains of Nigerian workers at this time of lockdown

“I would also urge @MTNNG @9mobileng @AirtelNigeria @GloWorld to consider giving Nigerians some token airtime and data to ease their pains.
“And also ensure that communication with individuals and authorities is ensured in cases of emergencies, especially when toll-free numbers are busy.”

Mr Keyamo had in some earlier tweets on March 26, opined that God allowed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease to afflict the human race.

He argued that God allowed COVID-19 to afflict the human race only to redirect our steps back to Him.

According to hi, “We have so distorted God’s Word to suit our own human weaknesses and satisfy our greed, even in supposed Holy Places”.

The minister urged Nigerians to collectively ask for forgiveness, stressing that it will all end in praise.
