American R&B star Chris Brown has been remanded in custody by a Manchester Magistrates’ Court

His arrest over an alleged assault that took place at a London nightclub.

The 35-year-old singer appeared before Justice Joanne Hirst on Friday, May 13,  2025.

This was after being arrested the previous day at The Lowry Hotel in Salford, Greater Manchester.

His arrest stems from a reported incident in 2023 at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London.

He is accused of attacking music executive Abe Diaw with a bottle.

Also, the attack resulted  in serious injuries.

According to court reports, Chris Brown has been charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Justice Hirst denies the singer’s request for bail.

Also, he noted that the severity of the case exceeded the jurisdiction of a magistrates’ court.

As a result, the case has been transferred to the Southwark Crown Court in London, with the next hearing scheduled for June 13, 2025.

The alleged victim, Abe Diaw, has filed a $16 million lawsuit against Chris Brown.

He seeks compensation for the injuries and damages he claims to have suffered due to the incident.

The civil suit includes claims for medical expenses, emotional distress, and loss of income related to the attack.

The incident has once again placed Brown under intense public scrutiny, as he has a history of legal issues involving assault allegations.
