BREAKING: 2nd COVID-19 case in Africa occurs in Algeria

The Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, Wednesday, said it will close down schools, universities and other educational institutions for two weeks to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

Morawiecki, who spoke during a press conference in Warsaw, stated that from Thursday, classes will be cancelled until March 25. Online classes at universities will continue uninterrupted.

“Teachers in kindergartens and primary schools will be present on Thursday and Friday to take care of children whose parents will be unable to organise care on short notice.”

The Minister urged parents to keep their children at home and refrain from giving handshakes.

“Effectively it is a time of quarantine for our society,” Health Minister Lukasz Szumowski said during the conference.

Poland will also close down cultural institutions for the public as of Thursday, including theatres, museums, operas or cinemas, Culture Minister Piotr Glinski said.
