Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova emerged victorious in the French Open women’s doubles final, defeating Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani 7-6 (7/5), 6-3.
This marked Gauff’s first Grand Slam doubles title, while Siniakova claimed her eighth Grand Slam doubles crown and third at Roland Garros.
Paolini, who had previously lost to Iga Swiatek in the singles final, expressed her disappointment at the loss. “Today is tough to accept,” she said.
However, Gauff and Siniakova were thrilled with their unexpected victory. Gauff had initially planned to focus on singles but was paired with Siniakova after Jessica Pegula withdrew due to injury.
Gauff admitted that she hadn’t expected to win the doubles title, saying, “I definitely didn’t think it would happen to me, to be frank.”
She had previously lost in the doubles finals at the 2021 US Open and 2022 French Open.
Siniakova, on the other hand, has had a successful doubles career, winning seven titles with fellow Czech Barbora Krejciko.
