A routine visit to a clinic for BBL surgery turned into a tragedy when a young woman died during the procedure.
The Lagos State Police Command has declared Dr. Idara Bassey wanted in connection with the death of 36-year-old Abiola.
Abiola died during a buttock enlargement (BBL) surgery n Lekki Phase 1.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development on Thursday.
Accordinding to the trending news, Abiola had visited the clinic for a buttock enlargement (BBL) surgery, commonly known as a Brazilian Butt Lift.
What is Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)
The procedure involves extracting fat from other body areas and injecting it into the buttocks to enhance their appearance.
However, the situation turned fatal after a nurse, acting on Bassey’s orders, administered an injection.
Medical experts had previously warned about the risks of such procedures.
Despite these warnings, many women, particularly in Lagos, have shared videos of successful surgeries online.
Reports indicate that Abiola had left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, on Monday for the clinic.

Consequences Of Bad BBL surgery
After receiving the injection by the nurse, she lost consciousness and began gasping for breath, according to the driver who brought her to the clinic.
The police have arrested the nurse who administered the injection.
However, Hundeyin revealed that the clinic’s owner, Dr. Bassey, is currently on the run.
Hundeyin confirmed that Bassey is a “suspect” in the case. “She’s on the run. Of course, she’s a suspect,” he said.
Also, Hundeyin reported that similar incidents have occurred elsewhere.
In 2019, Melissa Kerr, a 31-year-old British woman, died at Medicana Kadikoy Hospital in Istanbul during a similar procedure.
