CJN TANKO’S RESIGNATION :PRES. BUHARI SWEARS-IN NEW ACTING

President Muhammadu Buhari will swear in a new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) following the resignation of Tanko Muhammad who has been holding the office since 2019.

The anticipated swearing-in of the next CJN was confirmed in a tweet by Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential advisor.
According to rumors, Mr. Muhammad resigned from the Supreme Court due to health reasons, and Olukayode Ariwoola, the next-highest ranking Justice, was going to be sworn in to take his position.

President Muhammadu Buhari will swear in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)  according to Mr. Ahmad’s tweet.

When the procedure for Mr. Ariwoola’s substantive appointment, which includes a proposal by the National Judicial Council (NJC) and confirmation by the President subject to the Senate’s review, is concluded, he will be appointed in an acting capacity.
