The Chivido2024 wedding ceremony is over, but many have one thing or another to say about it online, and DeeOne aired his views too.
Comedian Deeone has tackled Chioma’s family for allowing her traditional wedding to Davido to be held in Lagos and not in Imo State, where they are from.
In a video shared earlier today, Deeone said it appears to him that the Igbo tradition is divided into two.
One for the rich and the other for the poor.
According to him, the Igbo culture demands that the traditional marriage rites of a new bride be done in her hometown.
However, because Davido is rich, Chioma’s family “bypassed” the tradition and had the wedding in Lagos.
Also, DeeOne said if the bride was of a lower class, her family would have insisted that the wedding be held in the village; rather, they all went down to Lagos for the event.

“All the respected Igbo leaders travelled down to Lagos because Davido is rich.
“If it were to be a poor man, you all will say tradition is tradition that he must come to the East.
“This is the first time I’ve heard of this kind of thing in my whole life.”
Also, he mentioned that holding the wedding in the bride’s hometown would have been of economic value to the region by way of travellers coming into lodges in hotels, buying food, and others.
While some agreed with his point of view, others slammed his assertions, saying the couple is free to hold their wedding wherever they choose.

In addition, some netizens pointed out the fact that the rising insecurity in the East could have been one of the limiting factors and that Lagos was a central location for the majority of attendees.
