Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a bid for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah as a potential replacement for Newcastle United target Marc Guehi.

According to The Telegraph, Chalobah and Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix are of interest to Palace – with the latter previously working under Eagles head coach Oliver Glasner.

The report adds the former France Under-20 international is in the last year of his contract, while Chalobah may be available for approximately £25 million ($31.7m).

Chalobah has been in limbo ever since being left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour to America, but their defensive issues have not gone away with his exclusion.

A fresh start may be the best thing for his career, while Palace are looking to prepare themselves for a season without Guehi – who is nearing a move to Newcastle.

The Eagles need to be careful, however, after already selling star winger Michael Olise to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

According to the report, Chalobah will continue to train away from Chelsea’s first-team squad with the club’s youngsters following their return from America.

The 25-year-old Blues academy product turned down a move to Nottingham Forest last year and still has four more years left on his Stamford Bridge contract.

With the Premier League season getting underway in less than two weeks’ time, if Chalobah does leave Chelsea, he will want to make a move as soon as possible – particularly with the summer transfer window shutting on August 30.
