Sadly, Celine and Afiba didn’t get so lucky after entrusting themselves to a male stranger they met online.
If only they knew they were embarking on a journey of no return, perhaps they would have turned down the offer of going to another state to meet up with an online acquaintance.
Indeed, the story of the two female friends is a painful one as none of them is around to tell the world what actually transpired.
Because we live in tough times, extra caution has to be taken when using the internet, especially social media, as it has both good and bad sides.
Two ladies, Celine and her Ghanaian friend, Afiba, were declared missing after they travelled from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to Abia State on April 27, 2024, to see Andrew Amaechi Ochekwo after meeting him on Facebook.
The Activist
A Nigerian activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, who has been following the case, confirmed the discovery of a decomposing and dismembered body near Andrew’s home.
Harrison mentioned that the body was found with its head, hands, and legs not visible.
Also, he noted that it was wrapped in one of the curtains similar to the ones in the home of Andrew, who was killed while trying to escape arrest some days ago.
He mentioned that it is uncertain if the body belongs to any of the missing ladies.
Harrison shared this information on his Instagram page.
Celine Or Afiba?
“‘ONE DECOMPOSING DEAD BODY FOUND NEAR OPPOSITE ANDREW’S HOUSE HEAD, TWO HANDS, TWO LEGS NOT VISIBLE.
“You all remembered that a few days ago, I posted that anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of Celine and Afiba should send a message, and his or her identity will be protected.
“Yesterday, at about 10:00 pm, we arrived in Aba, and in the company of police officers from FIB-IRT Abuja, we went out for a search and discovered a decomposed body wrapped and dumped somewhere around ZeeRock area, Ogbor-Hill, Aba, Abia State.
“Furthermore, the activist urged residents of Abia State to give information that will be useful in the investigation.
“We are yet to ascertain if the body is one of the victims or someone else, and we wish to appeal to NDI Abia to assist us more in knowing the whereabouts of Celine and Afiba.
“I understand that there is a disconnect between the security agencies and the people, which is why I am here in person, and any information sent to me will not put anyone in danger. Help us to keep everyone safe.”
According to Harrison, Andrew Amaechi belonged to an organ-harvesting syndicate before he was killed.
He used social media to lure his victims to his house, after which he carried out his mission.
