The Central Bank of Nigeria has refuted claims of a breach of its official website – cbn.gov.ng.

Its website had been down for a while, leading many to suggest that global hacktivists – Anonymous had hacked the site.

The suggestions were not far-fetched as Anonymous hacked the twitter account of the National Broadcasting Commission early on Friday morning, and asked Twitter users to suggest other government twitter accounts and websites to be hacked.

Debunking the claims, the CBN tweeted a press statement stating that there was no cause for alarm as its system remained secure.
