Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said his team would need to play the “perfect game”, to beat Manchester City on Wednesday night and reach the Carabao Cup final.

United trail 3-1 from the first leg of the semi-final at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has called on his team to replicate their Champions League comeback against Paris Saint-Germain last season, to reach the final at Wembley.

“It has to be a perfect performance to win with two goals against such a good team away from home.

“For us, it’s not about away goals, we just need to score two more than them and when it happens, how it happens, it would be good not to concede first because that makes it less difficult.

“It looked like it was over at half-time (at Old Trafford). I have to say the second part of that first half they outplayed us for a while and it’s hard but we got back in it.

“We’ve got to go into the memory bank and think PSG. We’ve done it against good teams before and that gives us hope and the game in December gives us hope.

“We’ve done amazing things before at this club and the PSG game, for me, is a very, very good example of how you can make a two-goal deficit work in your favour. We need the first goal,” Solskjaer told the media on Tuesday morning.
