Former Chelsea star, Cesc Fabregas has singled out midfielder, Fred, for praise following the Brazilian display in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup semi-final 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Fabregas, who plays for Monaco in the French Ligue 1, believes Fred has been very good for the Red Devils in their last few matches.

Man United defeated Pep Guardiola’s side at Etihad, thanks to Nemanja Matic’s strike in the first half.

Man City progressed to the final of the competition with a 3-2 aggregate where they will face Aston Villa on March 1.

“Fred has been very good in the last few games I’ve watched him,” Fabregas wrote on Twitter after the game.

Meanwhile, Speaking about Fred and his teammates, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he was proud of the midfielders and all his players despite not progressing to the final of the competition.

The Norwegian told Sky Sports after the match: “I am so proud of these players. They have beaten City twice at their ground.

“They have come so far these players. They have given me absolutely everything. We have come a long way.

“Even though we did not create too many clear-cut chances we pressed them back. It pleased me.”
