Canada has announced more expedited temporary residence visa (TRV) processing and more thoughtful application procedures.

Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, stated that “the new process allows families to be together sooner while their permanent residence is being finalised.

“The majority of these applications will be processed within 30 days, and applicants will benefit from processing measures tailored to their situation as spouses and dependents.

“Many applications have already been processed using these new tools,” says the company, adding that the process has a 93% acceptance rate.

“Today’s announcement is a mandatory commitment to assist in the development of inclusive and resilient communities.

“We are assisting Canadians and newcomers by quickly reuniting families and allowing them to work and support themselves once they arrive.

“By doing so, Canada is assisting newcomers in reaching their full potential while also strengthening Canada’s economy and social fabric.”

Additionally, spousal applicants and other open work permit holders whose licenses expire between August 1 and the end of 2023 will be able to renew their work permits for an additional 18 months.

In statement, a comparable option was recently made available to many people with expired post-graduate employment permits.

This comes just a few days after the United Kingdom announced plans to prohibit some overseas students from bringing family members into the country.

Universities throughout the UK have criticised the new policy, calling it a danger to the country’s global status as a top destination for international talent that must be carefully evaluated.
