Nigerian music sensation and Grammy winner, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has once again switched things up by adopting a brand-new nickname.
Just when fans were getting used to calling him “Odogwu,” “Big 7,” and “El Major,” the Afrofusion star has now rebranded himself as Jean Béna Dieudonné.
Jean Béna Dieudonné is a name that sounds straight out of a high-fashion Parisian runway or a historical French novel.
The unexpected name change came on Friday, following Burna Boy’s collaboration with French-Haitian artist Joé Dwèt Filé.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, he declared, “My name is now Jean Béna Dieudonné.”
Fans were quick to react, with some amused by the sudden French flair and others speculating if this marks a new artistic era for the singer.
The French Plan
Burna Boy’s latest alias coincides with the release of the remix to Joé Dwèt Filé’s hit song 4 Kampé, where he seamlessly weaves French lyrics into his verse.

However, this isn’t the first time the self-proclaimed African Giant has embraced a new moniker.
But with his growing international appeal, perhaps “Jean Béna Dieudonné” is his way of making a mark on the French-speaking music scene.
