The supreme court on Monday affirmed the election of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state and member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

This was after it dismissed the appeal and cross-appeal instituted by Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf, gubernatorial candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP

Recall that the appeal court had upheld the election of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta declared that the grounds of the two appeals brought by the appellant were dismissed for lack of merit.

He added that the grounds of the appeals were blanket in law, unproved and could not accommodate all infractions of the electoral process.

He argued that the winner of the guber poll did not win the majority of total votes cast in the election conducted on March 9, 2019 besides other alleged electoral infractions.
