At the conclusion of his meeting, he quashed speculations of a return to the All Progressives Congress as he told journalists attached to the Villa that it would be wrong for him to rejoin the party.

Obaseki had emerged victorious in last Saturday’s Edo state gubernatorial election, defeating All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, while flying the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party.
